More than 20 million people in the United States are diagnosed with diabetes. Another estimated 5.7 million are unaware they are living with the disease.1
The impact of diabetes is staggering. It affects many of us and our loved ones, our wallets and the health care we receive. In order to change the future of diabetes, we need to truly understand where our nation stands now.
The Novo Nordisk Diabetes Barometer seeks to do just that. It is a multi-phase initiative designed to examine the current state of diabetes in America in three interconnected areas - societal perceptions, economic impact and clinical outcomes. By looking at diabetes in a holistic way, the nation can take another important step toward Changing Diabetes®.
